Winter Wolves offers Spin Around for free

Winter Wolves Games has released its first puzzle game titled Spin Around as freeware. Spin Around features simple but addictive gameplay, according to Winter Wolves, and online scores accompany three play modes. Those play modes include "Time Attack," "Top Score," and "Puzzle Game." The first mode challenges players to clean the grid in the shortest time possible, while the second charges players with achieving the highest score. The third and final play mode presents puzzles with increasing difficulty. The title is available as a free download on the official website, requiring Mac OS X (specific system requirements were unavailable).

Wii Update Brings Full Internet Channel

Nintendo has released the full version of its Internet Channel for its hot-selling Wii video game system, including a full version of the Opera Web browser for Wii, plus search functions from Google and Yahoo. The update is free for download in North America through June 30; after that, the Internet Channel will be available for 500 Wii Points (currently $5), although updates to the channel will be free for the lifetime of the system.

Originally introduced for the Wii in beta form in last December, the full version of Opera for the Wii brings many new features, including a manual zoom function to examine parts of a Web page—and yes, the existing automatic zoom feature is still there if you want it. The full version also features collapsible toolbars, multiple onscreen cursors, and displays "crisp and readable" text at all zoom levels.


Smoking lingers at state's hospitals

Across Missouri, hospitals began a voluntary ban last year. Enforcers have driven smokers outdoors, but tobacco still burns in parking lots, behind trees and in other unlikely places.

Driving cigarette smokers off hospital grounds is a little like the arcade game "Whack-A-Mole" — chase one from one place, and another pops up somewhere else.

That's been the challenge for Missouri hospitals since Sept. 1, when their new tobacco-free campus rule pushed smoke-free boundaries to the outermost property lines — including parking lots, lawns and leased property in and out of town.

First English Version of Granado Espada Ready in May

The First English Version of Hakkyu Kim's Latest Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, Granado Espada, Will Be available for Gamers in South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand on May 17th.

Since April 2006, Infocomm Asia Holdings (IAH), the operator for the game, has been hard at work localizing the hit Korean game.

While the commercial release of the game is slated for later this year, IAH has decided to have a Pre-Open Beta Test where the game will be free to play for all avid online gamers.

The Singaporean company has pulled out all stops in their effort to localize Kim's latest vision, which won the top prize in the 2006 Korean Game Awards, the Presidential Award for the Best Game of 2006, as well as clinching a prize for Best Graphics.

Pac-Man XBLA World Championship Annnounced; 26 Years of Quiznos ...

Microsoft has announced a global competition for the best Pac-Man player in the world. The Pac-Man World Championship will run from April 25th to May 9th and will happen over the Xbox 360's Live Arcade game of Pac-Man. Nine finalist will be flown to New York City on June 5th and the winner will be crowned by the creator of Pac-Man, Toru Iwatani. One finalist from each of the following regions will be selected: Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, Japan and Mexico; and two finalists from Europe and the United States.
