Right around this time last month, we asked for your questions to pass on to President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Phil Harrison. Below are his very thorough responses to the questions you posed, ranging in subject from the European delay to the public perception of SCEA. Make sure to give them a look, and many thanks again to Mr. Harrison for his time. .

Mii and You

Hello fellow Nintendo folks. In the four weeks since this column launched the GameSpy Wii has sent out over 25 invites to readers to share Wii Friends Codes and it has received well over 100 random Miis through the power of the Mii Plaza. Interestingly enough, I expect the reader feedback to be a mixture of positive and negative -- as so often is the way -- but for the most part, everyone's been really supportive and happy with how things are turning out. This week, I'll be posing some issues that have come up as well as answer a few more questions that you've kindly submitted. This past week saw flashing blue lights on every Wii connected to the Internet around the globe. Upon further investigation -- and shortly after powering up the GameSpy Wii -- I received an email alert from both Nintendo and Opera stating that the Wii Internet Browser was complete, final, and ready to be downloaded via the shopping channel.

Is the video games industry headed for a crash?

It's larger than Hollywood, its virtual stars may live happily on a diet of bits and bytes, but the video games industry has not been able to insulate itself from upheaval.

Yes, gamers are snapping up the new generation of games consoles - Microsoft's Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii, and Sony's Playstation 3 [PS3], but at huge cost to the industry.

Hardware makers are losing hundreds of dollars on every console sold, and games publishers face an "increasingly difficult environment, as rising development costs and small user bases [mean] that return on investment in next generation games development is unlikely to be achieved before 2008," according to media analysts Screen Digest.

More importantly, though, the video games publishers are facing a revolution of their business model.
