Free Mobile Gaming with GameJump

The pricy antics of the PS3 and the hard to find Nintendo Wii may be stealing the gaming spotlight but while the big names in the industry battle it out, mobile gaming has evolved from the throwaway downloads of old into an industry to be reckoned with. GameJump in particular offers free game downloads and has made enough of an impact to warrant a nomination from the Webby Awards' for Best News and Entertainment Mobile Site.

I downloaded a helicopter shooting game and a quirky shooter called "Office Zombies". My 2D helicopter bit the dust rather quickly while trying to avoid flea-like bullets but my zombie shooting skills helped me obtain 2nd place in the rankings. While the GameJump mobile games would have a hard time competing with my trusty Nintendo DS, the main draw for me is that it's all free.

Review: Offside

Two buses roll down the streets of Tehran, bound for Azadi Stadium. Packs of wild soccer fans hang out the windows like colorful streamers, shouting victory chants at the occupants of other, similar buses. On one bus, a concerned man searches for his daughter. On another bus, a lone figure sits quietly at the front. She is clearly a girl, with a soft face and a cute, turned-up nose. But she has done her best to disguise her gender, wearing a cap with flaps down the back, baggy clothes, and face painted in Iran's colors. Several of the boys on the bus immediately see through her disguise.

The girl (Sima Mobarak-Shahi) is on her way to see the big Iran vs. Bahrain game, a real-life qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup. The boys warn her that she'll never make it into the stadium, but she persists.

SERIALIZED FICTION Glass City Eclipse

Jeremy walked into the locker room and there we stood, Tania and I, like two kids with our hands caught in the cookie jar. What are you doing here?

I could swear that Tania said homina homina homina before answering. Hey, I'm so-o glad you found me, J-Jeremy. I was just trying to track Pat down. She indicated me.

Yeah, I said. I get lost easily, ha ha ha ...

The laughter died quickly, just like the smile on Jeremy's face. But this is the m-boys side, he said.

Tania squealed, absolutely squealed.

Oh, my gosh. Let's get out of here, Pat. She grabbed my wrist with a viselike grip and we walked as fast as we could out of the locker room, through the main room, past the front desk (where the clerk didn't notice) and out the door.

The Bachelor Recap: April 23

Was Bevin able to continue despite her sprained ankle? And what exotic place did Andy take the girls? Most importantly, which three girls were eliminated. Find out in our Bachelor recap:

The girls are informed this week's round of dates will not be held in L.A. but instead in Lake Tahoe. And the best part? Andy is taking them in a private jet. Damn. I want one of those!

On the plane, Bevin whines about not being to do anything active and worries that Andy will have more fun with the other girls. I guess I can't really blame her. I'd probably feel the same way. Then again, she has that whole "damsal-in-distress" card to play.

The girls are told there will be two group dates and one individual date this week.

Group Date 1 The Girls: Nicole, Stephanie KC, Danielle and Bevin The Date: A night of gambling

When the date box first arrives, Bevin bursts into tears and whines again about her ankle and how "even the simplest thing" is hard to do.

Internet pranksters have April Fool's fun

If you find it hard to trust anything you see on the web these days, imagine the field day the legions of online pranksters had on April 1.

Taking the limelight this year for its April Fool's prank was search giant Google, which offered consumers free high-speed wireless internet through their home plumbing systems.

Code-named Dark Porcelain, Google said its Toilet Internet Service Provider worked with Microsoft Corp's new Windows Vista operating system.

The gag included a step-by-step online installation manual and a selection of frequently asked questions.

On some Google sites, the company's official logo - a multicoloured Google that changes according to the season and on holidays - substituted a toilet for the second ``g''.

Google has established a tradition of elaborate April Fool's pranks over its relatively short history and also this year launched GMail Paper for its webmail, a cutting edge service that allows users to request their emails on paper.

Urban: FC Dallas-Rapids Rivalry the Real Thing

USSoccerPlayers (April 23, 2007) -- The best rivalries are organic, and free of artificial ingredients like league-implemented trophies to sully the recipe for animosity between clubs. The budding enmity between the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas has all the classic qualities for a true rivalry: cruel defeats, mischief and mayhem on the field, and genuine dislike between the players and both sets of supporters.

There's nothing prim and proper about this rivalry: no geographical proximity; no bogus cup at stake; and thankfully, no pin-headed attempt to secure a sponsor. The reasons for the rivalry between FC Dallas and Colorado stem purely from events on the field.

"I didn't hear them," Colorado's Kyle Beckerman told MLSnet.com of the FC Dallas fans after his side's 3-1 defeat (though surely he heard the cheers that greeted the three FC Dallas goals).
