Winter Wolves offers Spin Around for free

Winter Wolves Games has released its first puzzle game titled Spin Around as freeware. Spin Around features simple but addictive gameplay, according to Winter Wolves, and online scores accompany three play modes. Those play modes include "Time Attack," "Top Score," and "Puzzle Game." The first mode challenges players to clean the grid in the shortest time possible, while the second charges players with achieving the highest score. The third and final play mode presents puzzles with increasing difficulty. The title is available as a free download on the official website, requiring Mac OS X (specific system requirements were unavailable).

Spurs Mailbag

We decided to go ahead and empty the Mailbag one last time before the playoffs pick up in earnest. As for the 746 of you who have emailed in the past few weeks to ask, "Can we beat Dallas?" you might want to start questioning whether the Spurs will be able to get out of the first round.

Are you finally starting to see the light, Johnny? Can you now envision how the Spurs could beat Dallas in a 7-game series?

It's hard to imagine Dallas beating the Spurs in a 7-game series. Unless of course Duncan has a bad foot again like last year. Jackson, San Antonio

Of course, I can envision it. But I also frequently envision myself joyously living out the rest of my life next to Scarlett Johansson and, according to her representatives, that's not going to happen.

CB Tech Loves: Podcasts

Im not a radio person. In fact, I dont remember the last time I listened to music on the radio. While driving in my car I either have NPR playing or a podcast going, often times the podcast is This American Life from NPR. Theres something a little different about podcasts compared to broadcast programming. Its not the horrible audio quality found in many of the so-called shows that I enjoy; I avoid those podcasts like the plague. For me, listening to a podcast is like sitting around at a party with friends and picking up on a conversation Im not involved in.

There are two sides to the podcast world, at least in the broadest of senses. On the one hand you have near professional work being done by the media types. On the other you have average people sitting around and talking about what it is they love.

McGrady, Rockets Overcome Boozer's 41

HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets have gotten away with two bad offensive performances to take a commanding lead in their playoff series with Utah.Good thing they haven't forgotten how to make their free throws.Tracy McGrady scored 31 points and the Houston Rockets beat the Jazz 98-90 on Monday night, offsetting Carlos Boozer's 41 points with 34-of-38 accuracy from the foul line. The Rockets shot 36 percent from the field in Game 2 after shooting 33 percent in Game 1. Houston went 4-for-24 from 3-point range on Monday, but will still head to Utah with a 2-0 lead, a deficit the Jazz have never overcome."We find some way to keep ourselves in a game, despite shooting the ball extremely bad," said McGrady, who went 9-for-29 from the field in Game 2. "But we hit big shots when we needed them. We're doing a great job of getting to the free throw line."Boozer matched a career-high point total, tossing in jumpers from all angles over 7-foot-6 Yao Ming.

Hot Air: Perplexed

The views and opinions expressed herein do not necessarily state or reflect those of Nintendojo as a whole or any of its affiliates.

Why can't third party games be more successful on Nintendo platforms?

Is it simply because Nintendo's software is too good? That's the common assumption, but it's a little bit of an over-simplification to say that Nintendo's first party games are of such a quality that they simply can't be beaten. If that were true, then no other gaming platform could possibly succeed, because whatever software was on, for instance, the PlayStation 2, it couldn't possibly be as good as Nintendo's software.

Things don't work out that way, though, do they? Third party games are important to a system's success. While Nintendo has always felt that producing a continuous stream of its own software is necessary to make platforms a success, it hasn't tried to keep a system afloat all by its lonesome since the early 80's, and at that point, it was in response to the market crashing due to a glut of titles.
